The Value of In-Person Showcase Homes
April 20, 2025
Hi Reader,
This week’s topic is primarily the 2025 Pasadena Showcase House of Design (PSH), but the larger theme is the value of attending similar showcase events in your local market.
In PSH’s case, this is the 60th home they have remodeled, with proceeds supporting local music education. The annual event involves approximately 30 designers (interior and exterior) renovating the majority of rooms and spaces of a large estate — amazingly, all at the same time — to be completed within an aggressive 4 to 5 month timeframe.
The completed, reimagined home is then made available for public tours over a 30 day period — at a pre-determined publicly announced date, so pushing back delivery dates is NEVER an option! Miracle workers only need apply!
We have become big fans of the event as we get to meet approachable, knowledgeable and talented designers, while doing our small part to help support a great charitable cause.
One thing that surprises us, is that we suspect that many local homeowners still remain largely unaware of this event, or — if they have heard of it — don’t realize how valuable it is to attend.
Local homeowners who are considering a major remodel or renovation in the near future, would be wise to attend events of this kind, as they offer the following opportunities:
In one afternoon, you’ll be able to meet many seasoned designers, who can offer friendly expert advice, and sourcing tips, in one convenient, inspirational venue
You will be able to peruse the actual work of these designers and their teams, and can obtain great referrals for your next project
Although grand in scale, the PSH can still offer concepts that you may not have considered, which could be applicable to your own remodel — that awkwardly shaped room, small cubby closet, or outdated kitchen
Here are a few similar events in other parts of the country worth considering:

All 11 homes in the community feature Tesla's solar roof shingles, EV chargers, and Powerwall home battery storage to ensure they enjoy uninterrupted power, an amenity that has become increasingly rare in the Lone Star State.
