Hi Reader,
This week’s topic is Spatial Computing. You might be wondering: What’s that and why should I care?
With CES 2025 — the world’s largest consumer electronics tradeshow — wrapping up last week in Las Vegas, we dove into the topics discussed and categories of exhibitors to see what, if anything, might be of high interest and relevance to our community of homeowners.
Given the enormous and ever-expanding breadth of CES, there’s no easy way to find a short list of “all things most important to homeownership”. What we uncovered was a reminder on the importance of understanding current technical terms and abstract nomenclature — which led us to the topic of Spatial Computing.
Whether you are familiar with this term, or not, Spatial Computing is a tremendously helpful umbrella term that pertains to several familiar technologies that are absolutely of high relevance and interest to homeowners.
We have already been covering many of the underlying technologies of Spatial Computing over recent years, such as: Digital Twins; Augmented Reality (AR); Virtual Reality (VR); AI-powered Design; 3D Printing; Home Automation; and the Internet of Things (IoT); and more.
However, it never occurred to us to use the term Spatial Computing, even though — D'oh! — all homes are based on spaces and most homes today are being heavily influenced by computing technology!!!
If you are curious to learn more about Spatial Computing, like we are, be sure to peruse our helpful primer on Spatial Computing for Homeowners to understand what it is and how it can enhance many aspects of your home life.
