Hi Reader,
While needing more time to make sense of the perplexing LA Fires and their aftermath, we decided to switch gears for this edition of our newsletter to a lighter topic — Curb Appeal!
Though the topic of home aesthetics is always popular with most homeowners and across social media channels, we always aim to include substance behind any “beautification” ideas we might share.
It’s not enough to make changes that simply “look good”. It’s equally, if not more important, to make changes that last, add function, and are easier to maintain.
Conversely, keep in mind that even purely functional components of your home — such as unsightly HVAC condensers — can be beautified, as well — to a degree (see: decorative screens by RTS).
Our general approach to maintaining and enhancing our home’s curb appeal includes:
- Consistently keeping detritus at bay (see: the Aerobroom)
- Consistently checking the exterior of our home for issues (e.g. cracks are no bueno)
- Walking our friendly neighborhood for ideas, tips and referrals
- Staying abreast of products, materials and practices that can make our home look pristine, prioritizing durability, functionality, and easy maintainability
As we approach the end of winter, now is a good time to start gathering beautification ideas to enhance your own home’s curb appeal, including planning to give it “a good wash and hair cut” when the spring weather is cooperative!
